Couple interesting stats if you dig into the tables from the site-
Forceable rape was down a huge amount compared to the previous 4 sets of years. Also burglary and property crime down by a significant portion. Arson I am guessing would be more prone to large fluctuations due to it's lower occurrence than the other major crimes but without seeing the total counts it is hard to say that.
Without really having access to the data to look deeply at it, I think that property crime and rape drops is pretty telling of what occurring with criminal group think mentality. There are a lot of dumb criminals out there but likewise, there are plenty of smart ones and I bet a lot decided to hedge different bets with the massive increase in firearms sales. Those people go after easy targets...not hard ones.
