They do realize this is permanent and not a test right? What's their exit strategy if it turns out to be a bad "test"? Do they seriously think they can just take back a few bucks an hour from those workers who have grown accustomed to a certain income during the "test" without some kind of uproar or outright riot?
They have been talking about doing this for some time. I have heard the cost of living is already pretty absurd in the Seattle area, I'm sure it will be insane once this comes to pass.
Some minimum wage worker does NOT understand is, price index will sky rocket after this.
Those who are happy about wage increase think price index will be constant, and their wage is increasing. It is not a "real" wage increase.
Now, if smart CEO and COO of MCD, BK, PZZA, and other places found a great source to significantly reduce the cost, and want to increase the wage for their employees would be a different story.
And so it begins
When you can be replaced - you're not worth $15 an hour. We will start seeing these a lot more.
