CITIZEN pulled over Sheriff Deputy for speeding

Well to add to the general disappointment, I saw a Aurora PD motor cycle office riding his APD bike up the sidewalk at Parker and 225 (exiting from Parker to 225 N) .. no lights, no one around, just scooting up so he could (I assume) get back to is ticket trapping spot. Irked the hell out of me and if I had been able to catch the ID on the bike I'd have called. There was no way for me to reasonable turn around (sans getting on the sidewalk) and confront the officer with his blatantly illegal conduct.

Hate that shit... with a passion.. WITH A PASSION. Don't even get me started on the accountability failures of the Arapaho County Sheriffs Dept.!!!!!!

Unfortunately some officers get on a power trip and think they can do whatever they want. It happens in all public service work. Have relatives in law enforcement in Arizona, I have heard plenty of stories of their co-workers abusing the laws..but it is a minority of them who do it..but like anything else a small group spoils it for everyone.

nothing illegal about that officer on the sidewalk. If i remember, the statute is 42-4-108. It is kind of the "playbook" for LEO driving. It states that a cop can stop, stand, or park anywhere they want. It states that a cop can drive their vehicle anywhere they deem necessary, it states that they my disregard red stop signals and signs and drive above the posted speed limit, while using popper lighting and sirens.

I assume as to the part of driving or parking standing or whatever this would be on public roads/property? I would think. And what about safety? Because you "can" doesn't meen you should.

I hear ya this specific issue is one where if I am not working I CANT know if they are responding to the bladder/tummy or a priority call unless I have a radio or MDT so up until the point they crash into me I just assume they have a reason.

There are a lot of tactical reasons why it's better to run dark, you had to notice that people became idiots when lights start flashing. I found it better to use the warning devices clearing intersections per policy rather than causing every car on the road to stop pull to the left or right or slow down change lanes ect. It was much safer for myself and the public when trying to get somewhere in a hurry to only use such devices when obstructing the natural flow of traffic, this is a subject where training is sorely lacking, the fire guys have done a lot more research in this area....
There are 2 valid reasons to operate your car not in accordance with traffic laws:
1. Pursuit IMHO rarely worth it yep I will admit it publicly everyone hopes for one and wants to, it is fun UNTIL a family gets killed that had nothing to do with it. This never happened to me thank God because I don't know how I would....
2. Responding to crime in progress/officer down/help, Here you really don't want the bad guys to know where and when your are coming so run dark IMHO

The AG,CBI, POST, APD/ACSO IA, could all possibly listen and act upon your complaint, there are forums for recourse and I encourage you to use them. Just like any charge or complaint it has to be more than hersay, I can tell you IA does NOT assume the officer is innocent and they are not well liked if they were then they would not be doing their job

A video of this idiot trying to run down an A type leo would be much more entertaining. I agree cops aren't above the law, but for pretty much anybody to say they haven't bent the rules to their favor a bit (like speeding, or rolling through a stop sign) would be lie. What this kid was pretty foolish but lucky for him it didnt blow up in his face.
