I don't remember a single water crossing on Slaughterhouse Gulch and it is the trail I've done most. I would check again.

Pictures even show water.

Yeah, that is just the mudpit area. Even if it was open, that is a dead end off shoot and not part of the trail loop. T-Giv, 10mmMan, and I went up there in the snow last year and there was a group camped up there with quads. There shouldn't be any more moisture than whatever mud the snow makes.
Dakan road is one of the only roads up there actually open to ohv travel. Rampart road only closes to automotive travel. As long as you can fit through the gates you can ride up there all winter. Wide atv's and large side by sides will have problems because they cant get through the gates. We take our rzr up there all the time in the winter.
Yes, but only on the 1.7 million square feet that belong to me.
The 40 acres that is my back yard.
Get a truck inner tube, 30' of rope and a couple of 12 yr olds and have a blast.

Well done, funny as hell.
That is what kids are for. Then they have kids so you have 12 year old grandkids to play with.
One warning though. Actually two.
1) watch out how much weight you put on the tube and then whip around, when tube hits end of rope it may flip you and atv(been there, done that)
2) the first time your daughter sees you and the grandkids (or your wife and your kids) wipe out the tube and atv in a cloud of snow... she may raise hell until you give up for the day
If possible send mom and grandma shopping or something. That way you have a chance to get home from the hospital with the new cast and be settled on the couch before they get home. If you call them on the way to the hospital they will be pissed that you ruined shopping and it could have been one of the kids.
None of the kids or grandkids have been hurt beyond a few bumps and bruises but I have broken my wrist and ankle on the pasture slalom.
