They may have changed it, but back in the mid-90's you had to attend a class to obtain the Ft Carson license. This was mostly to teach folks when and where they could go... to avoid getting shot at by tanks, etc.

North of the boat ramp, before the shore starts to turn westerly, in the shallows (under 4' of water) there is again tons of small bass and crappie. There are also some juvinile cats on the bottom. The fishing is good at Brush Hollow, but I caution you on two fronts here. One, bring and use plenty of insect repellant. Every time I've fished there the mosquito's have eaten me alive. This is especially true in/around the rocks on the dam side. Secondly, there are rattlesnakes down there! I had a woman from work who didn't notice the rattler that coiled up just a couple of feet front where she was sitting. She was afraid to move. Her husband eventually snuck up and dropped a bowling ball sized rock right on the snakes head. We, (they and I) are a lot more cautious there now.

I love snakes....There just such a great tasting REP over the camp fire.

Very true ... In the '90's.

Now they just hand you a large packet you are required to read as you pay for your down range license.
I used to hunt down there too, but registering your guns with the Provost Marshall never really gave me a warm fuzzy.
I also always got nervous bringing guns on the Post. Afraid some MP or civi guard was going to think I was up to no good as they were searching the vehicle for explosives.

Rampart Res. has been slow for me so far, caught one brook trout this A.M. at sunrise.

Seen two lanes of stop and go traffic all the way up Ute Pass on my way down...and so it begins! [Coffee]

Went to Rampart at Nicholas Res, the lake you have to walk down to...Got nothing but a snag, didnt even get a bite, went to brush hollow yesterday (nothing) went to qual lake and nothing there, went to cheeseman and nothing there...I swear I am cursed this month.....and yes I have used every bait known to man lol....just wasnt my day I guess or I suk either way didnt get nothing but!!!!!!



A bad day fishing is always better than a great day at work!!!!

On hot days like it has been, the best time to fish is with a fly right at sunrise as the fish surface. As the day heats up the fishing seems to really slow down.

I've never been skunked throwing a fly into surfacing fish at sunrise.

Last 2 times I've been to Brush Hollow I didn't get so much as a nibble. And I was on a boat!

Got 20", 23" walleyes early yesterday morning at aurora reservoir by the dam. :)

speaking of aurora resevoir... I dove there (scuba) and there is nothing but a mostly mud bottom with a few plants here and there in the shallower waters. If you like crawdads, I've seen 'em upto small lobster size I poop you not. Visibility is subject to run off and activity, and usually not that great.
