Raiders fan?
A few years ago I would have been watching the TV from the time I got up until the game was over. Yesterday I was up in the mountains taking a Winter Survival Course and didn't get back until half time and only watched the 3rd quarter of the game. Life is so much better now that the Broncos are such a small part of my life.
After a Broncos loss, there are more accidents the next day, and more women needing a shelter from abuse...pretty sad. I like Pro Football, but the money and energy spent on something that produces at a best a negative sum benefit to society...getting harder and harder to be a fan.
I was having fun playing board games at the brewhouse rather than watching the game. My friend and I went to another restaurant for dinner and saw the "highlights" of the game...it looked pretty bad :P
What's with all the boo-birds in the NFL? Are some of the home fans spoiled when they boo there home team, or just dissed because their losing big money when they bet on fantasy football or the like?
The product is getting worse and worse. $0.02 The constant rule tinkering makes it almost unwatchable. At this point, I don't even know what pass interference or a catch is.
I should also say I'm from SE Wisconsin / Packers Shareholder. Loved the outcome of that call, but when I played football in HS, it would've been a catch.
For me, I basically watch GB and none of the other games and even then I DVR so I can go outside and do something and then watch the game fast on my own schedule. Once GB is out, none of the playoffs until the SB.
I don't know, but we (society) don't know how to lose. I think it really ties into the whole "protect this house" mentality that so many NFL fans have. Hostility towards each other. Towards their team. There are 32 teams all full of professionals, all with identical goals, and chances are really good (31 / 32, to be sure) that your favorite won't win the SB. When you set up a "SB or Bust" mentality (as the news had after the Broncos last night), you've largely nullified the entertainment for what it is. As it turns out, the Broncos had one of the best seasons / teams in the league, but watching the news reaction afterwards, you'd never know it. Was it a fun ride this season or not? If the answer is no, probably you shouldn't watch anymore. $0.02
Well, I have been saying for 2 years that Fox is the biggest hindrance...gone he is.
I agree with you but it made me think of this:
