It's funny how stuff like that works.
Thankfully, I've never had an issue with the two basement window wells filling or not draining well.
Being nearly at the crest of the hill on our street and having good slopes away from the house certainly helps.
Sorry to see all those LP covers a mess Jerry. If my office or basement ever gets wet, I'm going to lose a lot of good vinyl scored from AK in years past.
How high did the water get? I'm concerned about your carpet pad being soaked. The carpet can be dried, but that pad will hold the water like a sponge.
This month has validated my look at drainage when I was picking houses 11 years ago on my return from Korea. I consciously looked at the surrounding terrain and development when I was viewing houses and the drainage situation was one of the things I really liked about it. Sorry your luck has been worse than mine.
