I was thinking this the entire time watching that video. We're trained that same drill in pistol for the military, and then again trained it a lot in LE. This is why I carry everyday. Proves that old point yet again, what stops a bad guy? An armed good guy. And this incident the bad guy didn't even have a gun! And Obama wants to get rid of guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens?
Israeli news services are reporting that the bystander intentionally shot him in non-fatal locations. Hence the multiple shots. He is now being cared for in an Israeli hospital.
I kept waiting for failure drill too, especially when the bad guy threw his axe at the good guy
I am curious how long it took the police or military or whoever that was to show up. Seemed like a long time, according to the crowd that gathered and all the cars that were stuck in traffic in the background. Good job stopping him. It seems like getting the weapon away from him should be priority #1 once he's down, but I probably wouldn't be thinking perfectly rationally in such a situation.
And people still talk about handguns in terms of "stopping power" or "knockdown power". I gotta commend the shooter. Maybe not the approach I would've taken but he engaged and hung in there until it was over. Good for him.
Given this was a terrorist attack there are a lot of people lucky they didnt have a secondary, i.e. VID. All those people gathering around could have been messy.
Makes me rethink my knock down power on some of my pistols. The shooter was pretty damned cool and collected given what was occuring, good on him. I need to start doing stress drills a little more.
Yep, I'd have head shot him when he was attempting to get back toward his car - could have a bomb in it he was trying to set off.
Otherwise, Buckwheats and cuff him to a pole.
