Never a big Bowie fan but one hell of a talented guy who had the gift of being able to change with the times. I did like his earlier work like "Rebel Rebel" and Young Americans.
His greatest musical contribution?
He brought Stevie Ray Vaughn to us. Bowie discovered SRV in a club in Austin.
SRV's first national tour was as the opener for Bowie.
Listen to the guitar in "Let's Dance". Yup, SRV.
The stars look very different today.
He also saved the life of Iggy Pop.
But what stands out for me was when he refused to be knighted by the queen. Truly punk-rock...

Labyrinth? Silly? Not at all! If you watch it now, it seems a bit quaint because it was before CGI. Then again, they accomplished a great deal without CGI...and David Bowie composed all the songs for the movie.Quote:
