you, me, and almost everyone else in the state. its a joke imho, but below is a cut and past from the statue.
(f) "Knife" means any dagger, dirk, knife, or stiletto with a blade over three and one-half inches in length, or any other dangerous instrument capable of inflicting cutting, stabbing, or tearing wounds, but does not include a hunting or fishing knife carried for sports use. The issue that a knife is a hunting or fishing knife must be raised as an affirmative defense.
What? No exemption for kitchen knives? How will we ever carve the turkey this year?
come on guys.... they are just looking out for our best interests, just like the government...and the aliens. *puts on tin foil hat*
All of My knives are for "sports" use....
mine tend to wander around the house.... those sneaky bastards..
I think that there is an important part of that statue that's missing. I recall reading it a couple of months ago. I believe the context, and missing text is specifically in reference to concealed carry of any knife with a blade over 3.5 inches (which the stipulated exception of concealed carry of a larger knife for sporting purposes... thus you don't have to open carry your field dressing knives while you're out hunting - but you have to identify this @ the time you are stopped and you'd better be able to support this statement in court).
The way the posts in this thread are getting worded it sounds like the possession of ANY knife with a blade over 3.5" is illegal. The logic test fails as all dinner/steak and kitchen knives would be illegal and wouldn't even be legal to be sold in this state.
Again, only concealed carry of blades over 3.5" is illegal.
Now, as far as Sportsmans Guide is concerned, I've never gotten a warm fuzzy out of them buy now I'm boycotting them - permanently. This is another situation that I've passed on to my "2A Friends" eMail distribution group also asking them to consider boycotting this company. If you hurt this company where they care, the bottom-line, they'll know they've made the wrong decision.
sportsmans guide can go screw themselves. I'll never spend a cent with those lying bastards, $29.99 for their club get special lower prices and if not happy with the club will refund $29.99 ha ha guess the joke was on me. Ordered ammo
back in January got e-mail backordered till 3/09, 6/09, 9/09. So I called canceled order and club membership. I got back $12.15 prorated my ass.
This makes no fucking sense. You can go to any of the outdoor retailers and pick up a Axe, 10" fixed blade, machete or what else you want.
I wonder how those got into the State of Kolorado?
