Given the increase in such thefts across the country, I suspect the ATF will substantialy increase in the storage and security requirements for FFLs in the near future. For the gun shop located in a typical strip mall, this will probably mean all handguns in safes at night. Stand alone shops, like the Gun Room or 5280, that feature integrated security structures, they may get a pass.

Who knows if the landlord had limitations for the posts or not. I would have thought something much more substantial would be required. I've seen better protection at Target stores.
I suspect gun sales are down right now. That being said, if my losses were covered by insurance I'm not sure I would make any security upgrades.
They probably feel that way as well, although I doubt that feeling will continue when it comes time to renew their policy with that sort of claim history. There is a good chance they will be required to address security by the underwriters if they wish to continue having a policy, which may have been what drove them to install those posts in the first place.
