The Thanksgiving holiday is over....

Ah yes, that time of year when I argue with my wife and father about how Die Hard IS a Christmas movie. My wife's logic: Have it happen in July and the movie doesn't change, thus it is not a Christmas move. I call BS, because it is occurring during a CHRISTMAS party. Change it to July and they don't have a Christmas Party, thus no one is there after work hours...

Our Christmas movie list:
Die Hard (Because I'm the man of the house and my wife likes for me to have the illusion I'm in charge from time to time [Flower])
Elf
Christmas Vacation
The Nightmare Before Christmas (Usually around Thanksgiving)
Scrooged (every other year)
Home Alone

It's a Wonderful Life
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

These are mandatory and all the others are watched as they fit into the holiday schedule.

Meh, I'm on the side of those who say Die Hard isn't about Christmas itself so isn't a Christmas movie per se. All it takes is a reason for a corporate party that shuts down normal operations and the way the country is going, that's more likely to be Halloween than Christmas in 10-15 years. It's still a great movie to be enjoyed year-round and to remind people that they need to be able to think and act for themselves instead of relying on Uncle Sugar to fix things.

I forgot about Scrooged...Murray did pretty good in that, and the smart ass ghost of Christmas present smacking him around all the time is funny.

Oh, come on...Christmas is integrated throughout the film. It checks the boxes for what's required to be a Christmas movie. Just because the Scrooge isn't green, doesn't mean it isn't a Christmas movie.

A similar argument could be used for "It's a Wonderful Life".
