Nope it was a legit, "hey we have some spare parts lets cut the back of the house off and add 3 feet" addition.

No real opportunity to do so as "pulling it off" would have cost me both in materials (whatever that would have been in place of the celotex), and the contractor time. I will have to do the typical cut the holes and blow stuff in from the interior whenever I get around to it.

I've got to say, that is a charming house. :)

Did they walk along the lawn afterward with one of those wide magnet things, to pick up some of the nails?
