Supersonic bullets do get hot enough to ignite dry, thin, combustables. It is not common, but it has occurred at indoor and outdoor ranges.

I think I'm taking some revolvers to Bristle Cone to get my fix. I do hate paying to shoot, and getting my brass swept down range.
Why regret a fun day of shooting if, by some unimaginable fluke, you were responsible for a fire during Colorado's current fire danger?
Archery sounds like a great alternative.
Just let the range officer know you are collecting your brass, and they won't sweep it past the firing line. I end up bringing home more brass than I shoot almost every time.Quote:
