If he didn't have the shoulder hump, he was just a brown black bear.

He had a head the size of a five gallon bucket. Kind of like Winnie the Pooh. Maybe I need to Google pictures of black bear cubs to make sure I'm not wrong

Its always easier when they wear name tags. Was he wearing his? Did it say Igor?

Black bears come in all colors from Black to Blond. I've heard that most bears in Colorado are more brown than black. Something to do with their diet and the amount of rainfall from what I understand.

Well if there aren't brown bears in Colorado then the parks and wildlife people need to get this off of their website.

An estimated 1100-1200 lb moose was tranquilized today in Colorado Springs for relocation.

Moose? Long Draw reservoir. Seen at least one every time. The other sure location is Walden and the wildlife area just south of Walden.

Thanks for this information gentlemen. It looks like I've got a road trip to make this weekend or next (work may keep me from trekking this weekend). There are 2 things here in Colorado that my wife REALLY wants to see - moose (particularly bulls) and big horned sheep. Every place we go that says the are present we come up empty handed. We did see a small herd of big horns cross Hwy 24 between Buena Vista and Independence Pass (actually Twin Lakes) about 10 years ago, but my wife dismissed them because they "weren't in their native habitat" (translation: they were on a highway and weren't in the mountains)

The long standing position of the DOW (yeah, yeah, "Parks & Wildlife..geesh) is that there are NO brown bears/grizzlies in Colorado, however... Several trained folks who know the difference between a brown colored black bear and a true brownie have reported seeing them in the Northwest and Southwest corners of the state. Because of this, I'm certain that there are a limited number of them here.

There was a moose hanging out in Greeley.
