Cool.
What do the Krauts think of that Holden?
I see your in K-town. Did a few trips there for training when I was on that side of the pond.

"A 2008 estimate reported that 52% of the autobahn network had only the advisory speed limit"
No idea what it currently is like. It was so great driving over there in the 80's. I had a 2002 BWM up to 145MPH. That's all the pig had. I think we had a buddies Golf up to 150. I've gotten close to that here in my chipped and speed unlocked A6, but ran out of road.
Teehee - I was 19 & had a VW Rabbit up to 135 outside of Rawlins Wyoming once (ok maybe more than once but that was the last time) Never knew & wouldn't have known because the speedometer didnt go that high. I zipped under an overpass & there he was parked just on the other side! He blinked his lights & I knew I was busted so I pretty much pulled over before he even caught up. Really nice Sheriff let me off with a warning. He said in part because no one would ever believe him. Hahahahahahaha!!!!!
*Had someone mention it couldn't have been 135mph. Yes, it was a cabriolet & 135mph is what the Sheriff said. Don't know how or why but that's what happened.*
I80 south of Bonneville, 160mph before the speed limiter kicked in. On the salt, 125 before it got too bouncy.
I remember as a kid in the 80s, my dad got a rental Mercedes and went 240 mph on the autobahn. I dont know where, but we lived in Bad Windshiem. Could have been the ring.
You must mean 240kph, because nothing street legal could even come close to that in the 80's.
So while there are unlimited portions the advisory speed limit is 130Kph. If you go fast and someone pulls out to pass and you rear end them at over 130Kph you are at fault. I have seen 260 Kph in the G8. Still more in her but once you get there it slowly goes faster. Also any car is going to get crap MPG or L/100k and at $6-7 a gallon......
That's cool you had that fun and experience, Jerry. Neato!!
While we're talking about going fast, check this out.
New world record for bicycle under Hunan power. Insane.

That just seems like they're trying to make up new categories. Was towed up to 150 and then followed in the wake of the tow vehicle. Over 80% of the energy of cycling is moving air out of your way.

Towed to around 100mph. I guess a speed difference of around 80mph on a bicycle is no big deal. Probably why there are so many speed bumps in my neighborhood.
