Too many people die from the stupidity of handling an "unloaded" firearm. I guess it was too much effort to just roll out the cylinder and visually verify it actually was unloaded.
Stupid is as stupid does.
We lost a friend due to a stupid mistake. She had a new Ruger SR1911 9mm that she'd told me was stiff and difficult to operate. I know damn good and well she was monkeying with it, cleared the chamber, and THEN dropped the mag, not realizing that she'd actually loaded another round and that the pistol didn't have a magazine safety. Stupid Aurora cops said it was a suicide, she had NO reason to do that, she was loving life, her kids, and grandkids. But that Ruger was pissing her off.
