Did you watch the video? He sure wasn't happy with it. The blades are engineered to be most effective, so making them thinner isn't a great idea.
They're not crazy expensive, so you're better off replacing them.

The hinged blades with a framework structure of multiple pivots don't do well with ice. I did have some winter blades that had the hinged structure within a sealed rubber boot that did pretty well, but they were also bulky. The beam type blades seem to do the best and they're pretty easy to clear of ice if they do get coated and become less effective.
I like Valeo blades--they're available at TireRack.
Bosch Icons are pretty decent.
I've always wondered why we could send men to the moon and bring them home safely 50 years ago but we've never been able to make a decent wiper blade that works in the winter.
If you have the standard J hook connections, Bosch 4820?s would be a good fit. I use them on all my vehicles and have no complaints.
The orange RainX antifreeze fluid works extremely well in winter.Quote:
