Unless you need emissions. Then you are SOL, and have to file for an extension, unless the Clean Air places open back up before your grace period ends.

You guys crack me up.
If I had registrations due and the places were closed or whatever I would just continue driving around with expired tags until things reopened and then deal with it.
I?d be willing to bet when all of this gets sorted out they will be waiving any penalties or fees anyways.
Also, if you?re riding around on expired tags and get pulled over, I would ask the officer how you are supposed to take care of it. I guarantee he won?t have a good answer.
Well I actually got an email reply from a real person this afternoon. I was told that my title work was complete, to provide a copy of my dl, insurance and old registration to get a credit towards the new plate. Hope to hear more tomorrow.
FWIW, my wife and I saw a car driving around Fort Collins about the middle of last year with temp tags from 2018. Something tells me they'll be even more lenient given current events. We've got a car on temp tags that's also past the 30-day grace period that I'm not worried about. We still drive it around & if some LEO is having a slow enough day to pull us over I'm sure "The DMV is closed" will suffice for a valid reason.
I lost my 20 tag on my car in a tragic boating accident. I have the tax copy of the paper registration so I know it wasn't a completely mindless screw up. I thought about paying for a lost tag but figure if they pull me over for some ungodly reason before it's due in Sep, I'll just feign ignorance. OMG, MY TAG IS MISSING???? What rat bastard would steal my tag? FWIW, I pile them up and don't peel the prior year tags.
The online first time registration doesn't allow for mil/vet plate selection.
If I wait until May to plate my new truck, it's going to cost me an extra $80. That alone (on their estimator) doesn't make sense if it has a 30-day temp tag.
I sure hope they can do this remote or waive that extra charge.
Paying the state $130/mo ownership tax on top of the "registration fees" to drive a vehicle less than 5K a year, most of which is NOT on Colorado roads, is literally highway robbery. Insane.
OK, so it appears I can just go get another temp tag from the dealer.
I still have to wonder if they're going to get me for extra tax if there's a delay.
