Definitely time related. I cannot edit a post that I just posted. If I wait a few minutes, I can edit it.
It seems to me that the most likely time to edit a post, is when you just posted it.

Hmm, works for me. Edited so fast it didn't even apply the tag.
Try waiting six minutes, and try and edit the post again.
