To you people being told to get the jab or provide regular proof of testing....
Do you have any legal protections? I mean do the employers accept any liability if you have jab problems?
Also, are any of your co-workers talking about organizing some sort of class action legal move?
______________
I'm self-employed and semi-retired, so none of this (really) applies to me. If a client told me the jab or the test was required, I'm in a position I can tell them, "Thanks. We're done with our business relationship."
But I'm sick of watching younger people be jerked around by these phony emergency policies....
Yes, but... As seen eddiememphis' post, you only have to report Positive test results, which everyone is supposed to do anyway (all the testing centers report this info).
I'm currently under a "medical accommodation" through mid-March (have to be "fully vax'd" by then). As a .gov contractor I don't know if I'd get the testing option otherwise.
Legal protections or employer accepting liability? Nope, not for me. My corporation accepts the "it's totally safe" bs and while they require the vax it's essentially "at your own risk" to get it. I do get an "opt out" option - from being employed by my current employer (and truly any other who operate in my field).
Our HR just sent out "the email" the other day with the update on the vax policy. We have interactions with govt, so they're going to require proof of vaccination by mid Jan. There is no testing option. There is a path to medical exemption (details haven't been shared yet) and religious (I wouldn't hold my breath that they approve many of these). Outside of that, if you're not exempted or vaxxed by the date, you're going to be placed on unpaid leave for 2 weeks to let you think about it . . . and then terminated after that period ends if you're not poked.
I'm fully jabbed and boosted, so it's a done deal for me. I am not aware of anyone personally who isn't but will be interesting to see how this goes and how many people lose their jobs over this. We have tons of remote workers, so this is stupid on so many levels.
I don't think these at-home tests are supervised so they are meant to be used for the user's knowledge and peace-of-mind, not as proof for travel or other reasons. Having the test on hand would allow you to make semi-informed decisions about possibly being a carrier after an exposure (since we all know that vaccinated and even recovered people can still be carriers after a new exposure).
I didn't start a new thread to go over all tha arguments about the current tyrannical policies and procedures, just to let our community know of an option they may wish to exercise. Ignore this if you don't want to participate in this program.
BTW, am I the only one who mis-read the title of this thread?
The first few times I thought I was seeing, "Free Rapid Fire At-Home Testing."
I was hesitant to register for this because they want a Google address to verify your identity and I didn't want to tie that to my normal email address. I'm still kicking myself over completing it anyway but found the final webpage curious:
If it's designed for regular screening rather than self-awareness then there should be a monitoring component to this test. The one time I've had to use one of the free community testing sites (due to someone at a meeting I attended being diagnosed as positive the day after the meeting), it was a real pain in the butt to get an appointment and then I didn't get my test administered for an hour and half or so after my designated appointment time. I now kind of question what the purpose of this program is, other than as PR for the governor and to establish more money going through the CO Dept of Health.Quote:
Thank you for initiating a Rapid At-Home order. Your request has been received and is being reviewed. Once approved, you will receive an email confirming you can place an order through the portal. If you try to order in the portal before you’ve received your confirmation email, you will receive an error message. The Rapid At-Home testing program is designed for regular screening. If you have symptoms, believe you have been exposed to COVID-19 or need immediate testing, please visit one of the more than 100 free community testing sites across the state: https://covid19.colorado.gov/testing. Thank you for doing your part to slow disease transmission.
We've been buying the at home tests out-of-pocket most of this year. We keep a few boxes on hand. We've used them to be responsible citizens. If the kids are showing symptoms, we test before sending back to school. Same for the wife and I. We tested once earlier this year back when she had a mild fever. We ended up all being positive via at home test and later 4/5 of us confirmed to have antibodies via lab test.
We don't report COVID test results to ANYONE. It's our information only to make sure we don't send someone out with covid. We've also given the test kits to friends who wanted to test they or their kids without getting put into the database that's used to justify continued loss of freedom.
We've been buying them $14 per 2-pack at Walmart. I told my company I'd personally pay $28/month to buy my own weekly tests and do it in the HR office each Monday of it means I won't get fired if/when they ever get forced into requiring shots.
Best deal around guys and gals.
