Bill Ruger is dead and S&W are owned by pro gun American folk instead of statist Brits now, so there's really nothing to worry about there. Plus Americans make better guns than cars anyway.
You should be able to find plenty of American made guns to fill your safe.
If American companies can't make a product that's worth buying, that can compete with foreign made, why subsidize it? I'd prefer to buy American, absolutely, but the American companies should be able to make a product superior to others and it seems that doesn't always happen. If they want Americans to buy American, then make a product that we'd be proud to buy and I will. My M14's are American made, as are my AR's, Remingtons, my Mossberg 590, and so on.
My truck, however, is a Toyota. An '06, before they started having problems too. Ford may win my business next, fair and square.
Keep in mind that foreign made firearms have to come into the country through a US importer.
I just bought a CZ and more of the cost of a new CZ goes to the good folk at CZ-USA in Kansas City than makes it to the folk in Brno, Czech Republic. Add to that the Americans employed in the shipping industry along with the Customs Dept and you'll probably find that Americans make almost as much off foreign firearms as they do American made ones.
Furthermore, do we know where the steel for American made firearms comes from? No way to guarantee they're using 100% American steel (or aluminum, etc)
Their major spokesman and huge investor is Hank Williams JR, made in Prescott, AZ! I've even seen his stage set up as a giant Ruger symbol.Quote:

DSA will sell you a US made FAL. I found out the other day that they are now making there own bolts. One of the last items that had always been surplus or imported.
Not to go off subject, but I just don't believe in rewarding a company because they're US based. I want the best value... Quality divided by Price. I'd love it if they are an American company, but I'm not going to limit my search to them. If an American company isn't making the best product, then supporting them means they won't be forced to innovate.
Same thing with the car company bailouts... The more the unions and the "Existing Methods" are kept afloat, the less buyers will look at the new upstarts.
