New patrol rifle

Fancy, but... eh, not worth the price tags IMO (even the last one, because its fugly). If you must get one of those, get the LaRue in blue... stay away from "tactical colors"... what's the point of a covert rifle case that give away what's in them?
If I can't take the gun anywhere I want, in front of any crowd of people be them sheep or SWAT, without raising eyebrows, then I don't see how it can be called a "covert gun case." Sometimes, the best camouflage is to hide in plain sight. I've found that the tennis racket bags work great for folding stock AKs, camping chair bags work great for ARs and shotguns, and lacrosse stick bags for long range stuff.
(Sorry, no pics of lacrosse bag).

There's room for potentially 4 more mags in here, though that's crowding it a bit...

My, how times have changed. My first (and last) patrol rifle was a Colt SP1 carbine w/2 position stock, GI sling and A1 rear sights. For me it was the perfect rifle and it served me well...very simple and nothing hanging on it to snag anything or get bumped outta whack. And, it was very light and easy to carry for those extended times on a perimeter, etc...

I wish A1 sights and thin barrels were still common.

To clarify, I do not need a stealthy case. I don't give a rats ass what it looks like either. For me, it needs to protect my patrol rifle and maybe a short 870 from the contents of my police car trunk. It will be traveling from the PD, across our parking lot, into a patrol car.

I just want a small case so it doesn't flop around inside. I appreciate your links and viewpoints. You make a sound argument if I were going in and out of public ranges, etc.

Fact is, I am a department armorer and instructor, so I can use the PD private range. Covert is not a requirement.

I love thin barrels. I also love lightweight and simple.

The 14.5 inch upper pictured is sporting a Daniel Defense cold hammer forged pencil profile barrel.

Both of these are sporting the minimum required equipment for a patrol rifle at my agency.

Must have back up sights, a sling, and a light. The optic is personal preference but I have used one since 2007. I am used to it now.

No bipods, no excessive 1913 surface, no lasers, no huge VFG, no magcoupler, etc.

And lighter than our issued 6721s with 6Ps and slings.

Ah, I was mistaken. The cases you linked all have "covert" and "discreet" in the descriptions so I assumed that's what you were going for.
I'd probably go for something with a hard shell if I was looking to protect them from knocking around in a trunk.

I've thought about that too.

Decisions decisions. :D
