Knife Sharpening

They do look tempting. I had a Spyderco kit which worked well. It fit into a small plastic case and served well in the field. Being small it got lost when I moved. The Lansky kits looks to be even more idiotproof.

Suitable for plain edges, serrated edges, fish hooks, broad heads, and just about anything else you can think of to sharpen.

They are completely idiot proof, they have 4 or 5 (can't remember off the top of my head) slots, for varying degrees of sharpness. You can buy a basic kit, and then add different stones as you go, or buy the mac daddy kit. For what it's worth, I couldn't sharpen a knife to safe my life before I got the Lansky. Now my blade is sharper than any shop has gotten it.

I also have a Lansky kit, works great.

+1 on the Lansky system it's what I've used for years. Keep a Smith diamond hone in my BOB for touch ups. [Beer]

There is a reason I don't have serrated blades. ;)

I broke down, a couple of years ago, and picked up a Lansky setup. This was to replace my 30+ yo whet stones. I never could get the angle I wanted. Ended up using the stones freehand. They are pricey but nice stones.

They have some less than stellar reviews on city search but since they are close and I don't own a $1000 Shun knife set I'll give them a try.

I prefer to keep mine dull, Broken tip, Large notches in the edge.

Tears the flesh better, causes more wound bleeding.

I have a guy, in west Boulder county, that does beautiful work. I just had him do my yearly kitchen knife sharpening. He also did a set of Marple chisels for me. Brought them back to their original bevels. Very nice.
