I don't think this plan would be the way to go. They are going to know what wholesaler bought it and when. Your date of sale would have to be after that date.
A better angle- tell them you received it as a gift and therefore have no access to a receipt
as the party that gifted it to you is A-deceased or B-out of the country.
You could advise them what shop it was purchased it from is now closed and you cannot get a copy of a receipt.

This is BS that Remington is treating product deficiency issues like this. Even lowly Century treats its customers better.
This is also a major part of the reason that I personally won't own a Remington not to mention just a substandard product. You should be able to reasonably expect scope mount hole to be aligned and tapped correctly when you spend just south of 1K for a rifle.

Good idea BP, thanks. It is indeed BS. ALL the other major manufacturers bend over backwards to help in most any situation. I'm done with Remington. I even told the guy that my brother owns/operates a large gun shop and that every weapon I use while hunting in a Remington. His reply is " yes sir, we do make quality hunting products".. WTF? If I can cause them to lose ONE sale, I win. I'm sure the cost of the repair with shipping would cost less than $75..

Is this issue something that you could take a look at in your shop?
If I can get it fixed cheap, I might just re-finish the gun and remove remingtons name and keep using it. When someone asks me what it is I'll tell them it's a custom.

Not trying to rain on your parade or ruin your rant, and definitely not trying to defend Remington... but... is this actually something Remington built or is it one of their Russian imports?

IIRC- removing the manufactures name would be a bad thing. 1- loss of value 2- I believe according to BATF regs the Manufacturer/Importer name must be indelibly marked on the receiver

I'd trust the Russian Import more... I have a few of them with many thousands of rounds from each. They were purchased before Remington stated to relabel them and they were the Baikal brand.

That was kind of where I was going with my questioning. Those Baikals are built like tanks. Not sure about anything Remington might have built themselves recently.
