Kind of what I was thinking. Isn't that what the US Marshalls are suppose to do? Isn't that why they get paid the big bucks (well, bigger bucks anyway) and have specialized training for specifically handling potential situations like this?

I thought I read that it was a federal fugitive warrant but I could be wrong in which case you make a good point. No matter though, still a tragic story and this is why every domestic disturbance call is taken serious and considered the most dangerous to report to.
From what the news said this morning, the Limon PD were asked to serve the warrant by the marshalls.
They're not releasing a whole lot of info at this point still though. If it was the tenant of the mobile home, the guy was a minister and a vietnam vet.
Very sad news to hear.
Too bad it wasn't "Dog the Bounty Hunter".
Whoops. Did I say that out loud?
US Marshals serve all kinds of warrants. This guy could have been a FTAP warrant or another felony warrant that was issued within the State. As for USMS advising LPD of the warrant/ fugitive, it's not like USMS is the only agency that goes after fugitives and they don't even have Inspectors anywhere near Limon. IIRC, the closest office is Denver or CoSprings.
RIP Officer. Gone, but NEVER forgotten.
