Daaaaaang! Sounds scary.
Watching the coverage of Japan. My 3 year old says. "look daddy someone left his hotwheels in the tub." No son those are real cars floating away in Japan. Scary how powerful the water is.
13 foot waves, two+ miles inland... yeah, id say that a lot of it looks ... well, fucked.
I hope our service men and women stationed there are ok. As wellas the people of japan.
Sadly, the fall out form such a significant economy being so afflicted will have repercussions here, even if we don't feel a drop of water.
Early reports not really verifable say that one of their nuke reactors is having trouble with cooling. More problems maybe?
Pretty amazing video of the stuff here
Our member Splogan is there (Misawa) We got a short cell call about 1am our time. Still waiting on an update.
Japan saying they have to vent radioactive vapor to release pressure on the reactor thats getting hot. I dont know a lot about nuclear power but I hope they can get it under control before something really bad happens.
At least we don't have to worry about tsunamis here in CO, but the seismic forces that created our mountains sometimes make me wonder about what kind of pent-up forces are below us. I don't think I'd want to be around if the Front Range suddenly decided to expand eastward a few more miles.
