You haven't messed with it enough then, IMO.
I have had a smartphone of some sort since the beginning. Pearl, curve, Nokia E series, Storm, Droid 1, Droid X and now Evo 4G.
I had a Droid X from launch date. I finally dumped my DX after I got sick and tired of VZW and their dismal service at my PD, where TMO and Sprint work fine. I am not a casual user. I ran three batteries on my Droid X, rooted with every manner of app and adjustment.
The Evo bests that DX in every possible category. The keyboard is a non issue. More specifically, a software preference. You can run the DX keyboard on the Evo if you wish.
Those of you who wish to tether your Evo and not pay $30 a month should look into the rooting process followed by an app called wifitether for root users.
Life is sweet with it.
