My brother used to have problems with fiddlebacks (brown recluse) in a shop building, and he always used some kind of spray "bombs". Basically a spray can that you set someplace, trigger it, and it would fog the entire building into every nook and cranny and kill every critter in the place. I have no idea what the product was though.
Not this kind of bug bomb though.....
I took a co-worker to the medical clinic today because of some spider bite she has, arm is all read and swollen. Get some spray. (or a cat)

Yeah no one really dies from those guys, but definitely bomb the place. Cover your food and clothes and blow up the place.
Remove their environment or they will just come back. They like dark and cluttered places, like leaves, woodpiles, window wells and ceiling joists. Eliminate their food source as well, other spiders, earwigs etc. When it comes to bug spray get some that is specific to crawling critters. Black Widows and other shiny bodied insects are a bit more difficult to kill with poisons. It also leaves residuals that other spideys will pick up and kill them as well.
Diamataceous earth sprinkled around where you find them is a good natural bug deterrent and Diazanon granules aren't natural but they kick ass. Foggers and bombs are a PITA in a house. We did it once and will never do it again, oily residue all over that took forever to get cleaned.
When we moved into our place I cleaned out the window wells and vines. 14 Black Widows and it took about 2 years to permanently rid the window wells. I still see an occasional one in my shed.
Watch out for them in those control valve boxes for sprinkler systems too, they seem to love those things.
Thanks for the replies guys. The house is a single level, small place. The house needs major repairs, and every time we complain about something to the land lord, he sends his guys out and they do a half-assed job, and the "repairs" are not even worth the time of them coming out. I wish he would hire some decent help. Our doors do not seal properly (ANY of them), I'm sure the place needs insulation, and there are just too many direct holes to the outdoors. We get a few mice here and there too. Usually just 3-4 and they're done for half a year or so. We've found out that peppermint essential oils, mixed with water and sprayed into every corner of the house work pretty well to keep spiders and other bugs out. Vinegar is another thing we just tried. We don't have any cluttered areas, but under the house, is where I'm SURE those widows are coming from. Spiders in general don't freak me out, but seeing a pitch black, shiny widow bigger than a $0.50 piece sets my teeth on edge.... *shudder* ugh. We need to get a new house to [hopefully sometime soon] buy.

They don't stalk us, they dont even like the same things we do.
That doesn't keep me from whacking them when I see them, I move my woodpile every year, and every year - there they are. The three idiots (my dogs) have never been bitten by one, and they live in the back yard and garage.
Diazinon does work well for them though, harder to find anymore now that the government has determined that diazinon once caused a squirrel to go nuts...
