It's amazing how normal it is, when we get visitors from the mid-Atlantic how embarrassing it is to go to a restaurant with 'em sometimes.
I am former LEO. Regardless of location, as ChadAmberg stated it is nature of the beast for people to speak that way because of where they come from, for an LEO to talk to someone in that manner is just unacceptable. It was made very clear to me as an officer, you can be firm, but always be professional. The way these officers reacted could've been handled a lot better. On a side note...that whole situation could've been avoided had the firearm been concealed, which is why I am not a proponent of open-carry. Why draw unwanted attention? Besides, God forbid I have to draw my firearm, but I would rather the bad guy not know I'm armed until it's pointed at him [Muaha]
Back on topic...last I checked there were only 4 places you were not allowed to carry in the state of Colorado:
1. A person may not carry a concealed handgun into a place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by Federal Law.
2. A person may not carry a concealed handgun onto the real property, or into any improvements erected thereon, of a public elementary, middle, junior high or high school.
3. A person may not carry a concealed handgun into a public building at which security personnel and electronic weapons screening devices are permanently in place.
4. A person may not carry a concealed handgun where it is disallowed by a private property owner, private tenant, private employer or private business entity.

I'm not excusing the behavior of the cops, but just like the law, behavior is a local thing. What is normal and acceptable in one place may be considered insanely, inappropriate in another.

I do not and never will understand the inclination of some people on this forum to "chase the dragon". Anyone with a brain knows that if you open carry- you will get challenged at some point, and you are at the mercy of the cops mood. Why create the confrontation? That is what we, as gun owners, do when we open carry. Sorry Libertarians, it is not and never will be an open society.
Sneakerd, because the more something is openly challenged, the less of a deal it becomes. 25 years ago, you could have made the same argument about two men walking down the street holding hands.
Squeeze, are you sure that it is only public schools for K-12? What about private K-12 schools?

I thought this thread was about concealed carry into a bank. No I would not open carry into a bank, but I ALWAYS conceal carry. Banks are one of those places I don't think I would enter without being armed.
Just a side note: It has been only within the last few years that I have been carrying and spending a lot of time around people with guns. I fell normal around guns now. However, a few years back I had a plan clothed sheriff deputy from the mountains come into my shop. Not seeing the badge at first and only the open carried gun I felt a strange sensation. I was very uncomfortable and was on high alert. We and me now are very different from those that are not around guns all the time. Understanding this I realize that its not the smartest thing to open carry. One my not care about what others fell, but we live together in this society and should care about others. Hell we don't walk around with fuck you written on our shirts. Oh, I guess we do, point.
I carry concealed into my bank all the time: Usually if I am going to the bank, it's because I have cash to deposit, thus am a target for the "bad guys".
On the open carry thing: "Bad guys" don't open carry, they would lose their element of surprise if their intended victims knew they were armed. Open carry should be encouraged, if for no other reason than to desensitize the general public and combat the media fueled notion that Guns=violent crime. We must exercise our rights, or they will be taken from us. What the californitards don't realize is that their "rights" are dependent on the very rights that they seek to deprive US of...[Bang]
Oh I may not have been to Philly, or NYC for that matter, but having done time in the Military, and being stationed in Northern NY have been to Boston on a few occasions and it's the same way. The F word is the most commonly spoken word in the Army, we say it more than "roger" or "Yes, Sir"...Quote:

The bad thing about banks that I find disturbing, my brother works at a bank and it has been robbed before, and they instruct their employees to comply with robbers and not confront, which I understand, but my brother being a proficient shooter, and CCW permit holder wishes he was allowed to carry at work for that just in case scenario where a robber was going to rob then kill everyone, he would be able to stop it... remember folks, an armed America is a safe America.
