I have noticed an increase in price for .223. Last year I bought 2000 rounds of winchester white box 55grain .223 for under $200 per 1000 (Gander). Now I can't find it for under $275 -$300. I have also noticed that serval suppiers are "out of stock".
Whats Up?? War, Dems, Ban.. Help!!! I need ammo..

Good 7.62NATO surplus is also hard to come by.
Less than a year ago, SA was $180 with shipping for 940 rounds from AIM Surplus.
Back in December I got the last case from 5280 for just over $300 with tax, and battlepacks (140rnds) are regularly going for $47-50 now.
I found some Indian mid 70s stuff from SportsmansGuide for $100/400, but I haven't shot it yet and understand it to be lower quality than the SA stuff.
I haven't heard anything about surplus foreign stuff being banned other than rumors on message boards, but the idea that supplies are just plain drying up makes sense, and the lack of new surplus makes sense with ongoing things overseas.

I'm beginning to believe that I'm going to have to start reloading. It doesn't appear that the environment is going to change for the better anytime soon.

A year ago I had a new AK74 and I couldn't get 5.45 to save my life (and 7.62x39 was spotty)
5.56 was fairly cheap and real plentiful
Now...5.45 is the cheapest and real available
And I have another 5.56 upper on the way
I have crappy timing

that timing thing happens to the best of us
