Dear Commander,

The average temperature in Colorado has become unbearable. Having much of the state in flames has not helped matters and I believe it has caused things to become hotter in the areas where there are fires. Please consider turning the state's air conditioner thermostat down so that some of us can get some sleep.

The logic behind it is to raise the issue that there is a slight problem- albeit it's not bad like "Yo there are drunk drivers always driving down Wadsworth just south of 6th"- but the only way someone in the right areas to at least help is to let them know. Yes this doesn't fall into the category of major problems, but when this happens nearly every, single, day it gets to be a bit of a concern when there is a logical, reasonable law that is not getting any attention from those we entrust to enforce it. I understand they are busy and have a job to do, but I'm just pointing out one problem area I would appreciate at least some attention being brought to- I'm not asking them to move mountains, simply letting them know of an issue. If you lived in an apartment and the washing machine was broken, wouldn't you write to management to have it fixed?

I agree, I've always believed when it comes to LEOs, CSP has always been a cut above. I know it won't fix the problem, but perhaps slow the bleeding a bit? Yes, you can't fix stupid... but I pray that stupid fixes it's sufferers.

Thanks... and yes, I leave every morning at 8:35 to arrive at work at 9, but it is impossible to plan for and I give myself at least a 5 minute buffer...

I don't see how that is his problem. These are issues that we the people need to deal with and leave government out of it. Otherwise government continues to grow and get stronger because we keep giving them power.

I thought your letter was pretty well-written and respectful, but I don't think it'll accomplish anything. I expect (and hope) that CSP would prioritize the allocation of its limited resources to areas where people drive dangerously fast and cause accidents, and not to areas where traffic is a bit slow, but people just want to drive faster.

It's the law, he is the commander of a law enforcement agency in a certain district... I see how it is his problem... Unless you're suggesting I take the law into my own hands- Which I'd rather not do, considering flashing my headlights at slow drivers just gets me the finger.

It's not a matter of wanting to drive faster, it's the matter of the design of multi-lane highways- left lane is for passing, if you're not passing and you're going slower than the speed limit (or like in this case there is a minimum speed and you fail to be doing such) you should move over for traffic that would like to do 65-70. I get frustrated when other car's inability to maintain speed going up hill becomes my problem when I get stuck behind them. Just raising this issue with CSP is all I'm trying to accomplish. If nothing is done about this, no big deal, I only wanted to bring it to their attention if nothing else.

The road hog law is relatively recent and not a big fine and no points. I commute on I-25 south out of the Tech Center every day and have never seen someone pulled over for this. Cops, being fundraisers, go for the big speeding tickets.

I was raised in a state where driving in the left lane was a moving violation that carried a stiff fine and was enforced. The highways could carry a much heavier traffic load than CO highways at a higher speed.

It took many years for the state to pass the current weak road hog law and it will probably take a really long time before any improvement happens.

I gotta say, I see a bit of a contradiction in these posts. There are those who are in favor of more government (liberals), those who are in favor of less government (conservatives, especially libertarians), and those who flip-flop as the situation best serves them (......). Just sayin.

I don't see any contradiction... I'm not saying they should govern every single bit of driving, but when there is a law, that is reasonable and just, and it's not enforced to the same standards as say speeding (another reasonable and just law) that frustrates me and others. This isn't asking for more government, and I fail to see how I'm "flip-flopping" at all. Now, if this was pertaining to a law (not sure if we have it here, but they do have it in NY) where you had to have your lights on when you use your wipers, I wouldn't care if they enforced it or not, because it's a stupid law. There's a pretty thick line between less government and anarchy.
