My friend handed him his DL and CCW, the cop asked "what's this?", my friend said "It's my concealed weapons permit". "Are you armed?" "Yes, it's on my right hip". At which point, the cop steps back, draws down on him, and yells "GUN" and about 4 of Lakewood's finest proceed to take him to the ground and cuff him. After the dust settled, the ranking officer on the scene apologized profusely and gave my friend the option of either filing an official complaint (thereby possibly ruining the rookie's career), or letting the sergeant handle it informally. He chose to not make a big deal of it, and it paid off down the road when the same cop pulled him over for a minor traffic infraction, recognized him, and chose to let him go with a verbal warning.
