AAC vs Gemtech

Awesome.

I have TB's Gem's and AAC. It's really what you decide on in the long run. They all have + & -. Unfortunately there is no one "perfect" can. Which gemtech? I have the halo and got it for ease of use on the many rifles i use. They all have A1 f/hiders and i can go from the SBR to the wife's AR , or that AR or one of the suppressed 22 mags i have, slip over and tighten. The AAC uses specific f/hiders @ $X per.

I've read that most cans don't need to be cleaned internally unless being used on 22lr? Is that not the case after all?
I went with the S.A.S 5.56 Ti from Mile High Shooting Acc. and was told that I'd never need to clean the can. So you got me wondering now..

I don't buy cans that can't be disassembled.

My reasoning is this: You have to clean a barrel which is relatively smooth. What do you think will happen to something that has nooks and crannies?

Maintainability weighs in heavily on my silencer decisions. If two cans are relatively close, the more easily maintained can gets the nod, even if it sacrifices a couple dB.

I'm no gunstore commando, I buy these for fun!

What I've heard is rifle cans don't need cleaning, because of heat and velocity, it blows out any gunk in there. Most people say pistol cans do not either, but there was a definite change in volume between my can empty vs. my can used. This was only really noticeable with .22LR

I wont buy any pistol or rimfire can that can't be disassembled.

Weigh your can when you get it - then weigh it again every 1000 rounds or so. Its quite surprising just how much stuff gets in there. The problem is exponentially worse with .22
