I'm with Chad on this one- usually they're just plain old good, but that one he quoted... Damn, way to just come out and put them on their head. Seriously, anything worth fighting for is worth dying for, and freedom is just one of those things. They won't do confiscation. They will do exactly what they did in California with the AWB bit by bit - sure you can keep yours, but you can't transfer them to anyone (and nobody can inherit) Again, they are patient people.

Now, there is no guarantee it ever happens. The internet is a powerful weapon, which could keep us free for a very long time. But the they are looking to control it too. If that happens, then everything is a turd in the stream from that point.

Let's look at some numbers:
Roughly 300 million firearms in the hands of roughly 80 million lawful owners.
Out of that 80 million figure half are of the "Cold, dead hands" mentality, so we are now at 40 million.
Out of that 40 million probably at least half would capitulate instantly when confronted by JBT.
That leaves about 15-20 million that are counting on that day when the JBT kicks in the door or are willing to lay it on the line for their country.

Now, let me ask: just who the hell is going to be the JBT? Even if only a tenth (8 million) of firearm owners take a stand that is still larger than any LE or Military force.

They don't have to seize firearms.
They will regulate them out of existence. They will make ammo so expensive and hard to get that there will be no need to seize firearms.
Then we just have cool looking clubs.

Foxtrot is right. The gun community is shrinking. More and more people are raised never handling a real gun. There was a recent thread about trying to teach modern plugged in youngsters to shoot and how boring they found it compared to their shooter games.

The anti's got slapped around and outmaneuvered when they tried for real bans. They can play the long game and win. Ranges shut down. Liability insurance popping up. Regulations/taxes make ammo hard to get & expensive.

Who's going to go out in a blaze of glory when online ammo sales get shut down? A 3 day waiting period? I've been hearing for decades that the 'blue helmets', 'black helicopters', 'Russian troops training in Texas' and every sort of other absolute ban was coming down.

It still could happen if things get bad fast enough but I'm still betting on the long road down.
