Prior to posting this thread I read the rules, posted agreement in the thread as they asked, did the search thing, and looked all over for the forum, to no avail. Asked an honest question, and into page two of this thread am still bewildered. Went to a link provided that said I'm denied access. Also to a link of rules that asks me to post agreement, of which I've already done. Told it's locked away in B4, of which I have no idea what B4 is.
So, I've come to the conclusion; the Trading Post forum is just a fictitious place that doesn't exist, and was simply devised to mess with the heads of new members. OK, got it.
What he said. Spam is the biggest problem here, the second was folks signing up just to hock their wares, never to be heard from again. Often times there were issues with the transactions too. So, we had to restrict access to folks that had been here at least 30 days - thus the "probation" status. This was the best compromise out of all of the options we tried. We've found that those just joining to sell their stuff don't want to wait the 30 days and just move along. It's cut down on a lot of issues we used to get. We try to get folks to realize that this is first and foremost a discussion forum - that has the benefit of a Tading Post too.
What you now also realize is that most every member here, including the staff, are a bunch of sarcastic folks. While it'll seem almost hostile right now, you'll definitely get used to it and come to realize this is how we tend to get our jollies (almost pathetic now that I think about it). This is how we are, but we'll grow on you.
ETA: oh, and the "In B4 lock" is a common phrase here meaning the person got their comment into the thread before the thread got locked (closed) by mods.
Yeah, Ginsue, it's a little different tone from my ski forum, but as they say, when in Rome. I can hang, and give it back. Hold on to your hat, my friend. [M2] [Beer]
Oh, and actually, I did want to buy an AR. That's ok, I'll just buy it somewhere else and stick around here for the camaraderie with folks in my area that have similar interest.
Yeah, thanks High Class. No worries here, seriously. I like the community for the social aspect of exchanging ideas with and learning from like minded folk. I was hoping to also be able to contribute too by purchasing something from one of the members here, but alas, I'm in the market for an AR now, and will just go ahead and shop elsewhere, and likely be shooting my new purchase by the time my 30 days are up. It's all good. I'll be here, albeit likely with less prolificness once the slopes get covered with snow. Workin is a bitch.
