[quote=GilpinGuy;664003]I know there was a recent thread about DISH vs. DirecTV. I had DISH for a few years and ended up dumping them for shitty service, attitude on the phone when I had a problem (which was often) and never-ending increases in prices. Every few months it went up.
Lol...This ^^^ is my EXACT experience with Directv. Switched to DISH and my bill is almost exactly half of what it was with Directv for (basically) the same channels. I'm sure in two years I'll be right back where I was before. I think they both suck.
I'm up to 64 channels that I get on just my regular FREE TV tuner. Anything else I want to watch I download without commercials.
Meh,
I've been with Dish 14 years, since when they sold retail. I have zero issues, no rate increases, and more channels than I can watch. In fact, I've had rate decreases for customer loyalty. HBO Go now works on my Nexus, so I'm happy.
FWIW, I have an OTR HD antenna so losing locals over Dish is no big deal. I can DVR anything and skip through the chaff as it is, don't see why their panties are in a twist over Hopper unless it's the full on prime-time pre-recording with commercial skipping. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on my low cost upgrade to Hopper myself.
This happens every time any contract is up for renewal, lots of chest thumping and they usually settle in the end.
Internally, yes Dish and Echostar (both former and current clients) IT is a sweatshop at many levels, not all. FWIW, 9News, as well as 2 was a client many years ago until Gannett bought them. Gannet can go fuck themselves.
Best idea is to turn the tv off. More money towards fun stuff anyway.
