Panic 9-1-1 on A&E.

To be fair to the dispatcher, the woman in the first call is totally panicky. I wouldn't be surprised if she shot at the first thing she saw, which could be one of the cops responding to her call. The dispatcher didn't tell her to put the gun down until the cops were well on the way and then on the scene. Most of us here wouldn't put the gun down until we knew cops were on scene but most of here also wouldn't be crying, "please please hurry, I don't want to use this." Officers are in the area and looking for her apartment when the dispatcher tells her to put the gun down at minute 6.

Remember, some people who buy guns aren't familiar with them and don't take the time to get familiar with them. They buy them almost like magic talismans -- and frankly, people like that scare me when they handle firearms because you just don't know what they're going to do. In a case like that, she'd have been better off with a baseball bat than a handgun. She can still stay outside the bad guy's reach with the baseball bat and cops on the scene will know what they're dealing with.

Very true. I had thought about that as well but you said it better than I could have.

Started watching it... Couldn't watch past the first dispatcher. Show sucks.

They why didn't you say that instead of ridiculing him? BUT, since you asked....

I saw the ads for the show and it took me two seconds to decide it wasn't for me. There's just sooooo much overstimulation on TV anymore and to what end? "Reality TV" couldn't be any less real. It's just become increasingly trashy, (you know, "Honey Boo Boo" and the like.....Really??? Is this the best they can come up with?) incredibly oversensationalization and unoriginal. (I know, THAT's a real news flash.) Take the new show "Amish Mafia." Who comes up with this shit?

As for the 9-1-1 show, I've got enough reality in my own life....I don't need to re-live someone else's to get my fix, particularly the very raw, very real and very ugly things. Not knocking anyone who does watch it, it's just not for me. I'd rather watch "Gold Rush" cause THAT's reality man!
