That is terrible. Why is it so hard to treat something with lethal capabilities like it is always dangerous. I feel so bad for the family, but more than that I hope to God that this saves the lives of several other people that would otherwise take the lethal potential of a gun for granted.
Yeah poor guy...maybe he should've not been getting into the truck with his gun in his hand, with it pointed at his kid, and his finger on the trigger...common sense escapes that guy.
"While getting into his truck", "The gun just went off", "I didn't know there was a round in the chamber".
Must have been one of those evil self firing 9mm Glocks.
Not that anyone deserves such a tragedy, but 3 major gun safety fails. 1.) No muzzle control entering the vehicle, obviously pointed it at the poor child. 2.) finger on the trigger and depressing it. 3.) Not clearing the weapon or knowing it's status.
That really sucks! I can't imagine what all its going through his mind right now. A parent should never have to bury their child (sadly I know a few people who have had to), but to know that the reason for your child's death is because of your own careless act would have to bring more guilt in your mind than anything else I could imagine. Prayers for the family, they'll be needing them to cope with this.

Man, how awful. My sympathies to the poor father and the family, but there's so many fails in this scenario that just shouldn't have happened.
Yet it's amazing how many people will "clear" a pistol by jacking the round out of the chamber, and THEN drop the magazine. And then are surprised to find out the gun is still loaded when it goes off. A friend of mine negligently shot another friend of mine in the leg with a .25 once, by doing just exactly that.
Raise your hand if you have ever pointed any gun at your kid while holding it. Was this guy at the drive-thru gun store and they handed him the gun in a paper sack? It didn't have a box at all?
This is unfortunate. Hopefully this is a reminder for everyone that there is no room for errors with a firearm. I dont know if I could live with myself if that was me.
Rest in peace.
I can only imagine the terror and betrayal the child felt...
Rest in peace little-one
For the Father, his hell will be waking up everyday.
