I am going to get crucified here, but I can see a potentially valid reason for the lawsuit. I have never used Armslist so I don't know exactly how it works but I am going to toss some what-ifs out there. If Armslist is making any monetary gains from the sale of firearms from the site or are in anyway operating as a broker for the deal then they are responsible for the legal underpinnings of the transactions.
Now if they are operating as nothing more than a forum to connect individuals and are not generating any revenue from the actual sale of the firearms, nor are they involved in the transfer of ownership then the lawsuit is silly.
armslist is a site for specialized classified ads. anyone can say anything on there. This is a blanket lawsuit with no merit.
And even if they were a broker/go-between why does that make them responsible in any way. If anything, the requirement that sales be done through a FFL with a background check (like gunbroker generally goes) would absolve them of any liability. Using the govt system to verify legal ownership is a strong defense. If you want to sue someone, sue the govt that runs the background search (never see them listed).
So when somebody buys a gun leagally and commits a crime, does CBI get sued?[fail]
Any attorney who took this case is a retarded moron and disbarred.
Has Craigslist ever been sued for the people who get mugged while trying to meet up with a seller? Or for the prostitution and drugs? Stolen cars?
