Chris Terranami, owner of Junkyard Ink in Louisville (http://junkyardink.com/chris-galleries/tattoos/). Pretty damn good artist if you ask me.
Nice avatar. The large poster version is right behind me.
Anyhow, my recommendation is for Bolder Ink in Boulder:

Before taking my business there, I had seen their good work on friends and liked their portfolios out of all the places I visited (however, IMO even great tats can look kinda crappy in photos). Don't remember the name of my artist, but he was a nice guy and pulled off what I wanted. No complaints.
Edit:
I don't know what up with their website -- doesn't seem to go past the main image now, but there used to more. I think the guy who did mine was Darren Hall. I know Joel D. Long does great work too.

Dave Allen actually used to work for Van. He does some damn good portraits, but that's about it. If he doesn't have the image right in front of him, he can't do it. If you want a portrait he's great, but if not...
there's a gun on craigslist ...his add reads that it's $150 marathon seating. As long as you can sit in his chair, it's $150. I'm sure his work must be top notch[ROFL1]

Yeah I can't say that Van cat is a very good tattoo artist in my opinion. As long as the tattooee likes the ink they get then it doesn't matter though [Beer]
Does anyone know of a really good artist who can tie an existing tattoo into a sleeve design? I want to tie in a not so well done tattoo on my right bicep into a sleeve design...I just want to find a really awesome sleeve artist/designer. Nothing really portrait style (or I would call Dave Allen...I've never seen portrait work that well done before) or American traditional style...a more modern style type artist. Thanks in advance.
