How about this ... they can register my semi autos as NFA items under the following conditions.
- All NFA tax stamps are reduced to $5
- The registry is re-opened to full auto.
- Term limits of two terms (total ... that means two in the house, or two in the senate or one in each or one in either along with only one as president).
- Submission of or voting for any bill that is found to violate the constitution is declared Treason ... punishable by public hanging for the author(s) and co-sponsor(s) ... permanent expulsion from office for the voters (along with Felony record and all that entails).
- No salary (and thus no pensions) for house or senate. You get free housing, free meals and free transportation to and from DC at the beginning and end of the session. That's it.
- After 10 years the NFA and GCA are sunset and all records are publicly burned.
I will not accept any alterations, concessions or compromise on those 6 points.
I'm strangely, somewhat comfortable with that... Basically same way it's done now, it shows you have had the BGC, but there is, other than a supposed BOS (that is what you're saying newracer, right?) held by the seller for 12mos, only extended to private sales, no registration/tax stamp or any other BS? And we can have NFA items removed from the "naughty" list? I could actually go with that...
Yes a BATF form that would be a Bill of Sale that the seller keeps. It would close the proverbial "gun show loophole" that they have a problem with.
Ok, I have a very rookie question as I am fairly new to a lot of this. I have been a gun owner, shooter for only one year. (I finally am with a wife(#4, I know, I know...) that was born and raised around guns.) But anyway, when you fill out the form 4473 and a BGC is completed, you have to describe the weapon and give the sn# isn't that "registering" your gun?
Yes and no (theoretically anyway).
The 4473 stays on file with the FFL and is only accessed by ATF or other law enforcement if there's a problem. The NICS check system destroys the record of the search the next business day (unless you were denied, but even then it gets destroyed soon there after ... details here)
When the background check is submitted they only state if it is a handgun or a rifle, no serial number is submitted. When the check comes back and the purchase is completed the make, model, and serial number is recorded on the form. The dealer keeps the form it is not submitted. In some cases the BATF has gone to dealers and use these forms to find out who purchased a specific firearm. It is a back door registration of sorts.
I could go with something like this.
My concern would be that Biden and gang would go NFA? You mean we let people have those evil things, well let me just take care of that and add it to the AWB...ooops I meant Gun Safety Act
Here is my compromise, repeal NFA '34 and GCA '68. There is no freedom without risk. Guns are not a risk, humans are.
