Never mind, I was wrong.... It would however be really easy to make a shroud to go over that though.....

I'm still a little confused about the MPX-C. We've been making Carbon Fiber AR-15 handguards (we were the first to make a modular one that is removeable) for a while and realize that the C has a 6.5" barrel. That means gas venting inside a CF handguard. Kind of know what that does, and it is not pretty when it finally breaches the CF tube. I am sure they have tested it and have some way to keep the gases from hitting the interior of the HG if that is truly the production version, but I don't know what it may be. Also, according to my contact at ATF, a solid tube around the muzzle is a no-no since it attenuates more than 1 db making it a suppressor by definition. Maybe that is just a prototype mock-up and not a production version.
Anyone have the actual answers to these questions.
A 6.5" barrel with a 9.5" break? What's the point? It can't possibly save you that much weight...
I would love to get one that is integrally suppressed. I like how it accepts some standard AR parts and operates very similarly.
Do want!
We got a chance to play with this thing at SHOT, quite honestly one of the coolest new things on the market. As it was explained to us by the rep, as we drooled over it, the "muzzle break" is welded to the barrel. As it turns out it is a perminent baffle stack (he winked when I asked). He said, you buy the 16" barreled rifle for $2k, then they sell you the NFA can for $200 and you submit for a tax stamp like any other suppresor.....so, all in at $2400 for a fully integrated 16" rifle.
This barrel concept is very similar, if not the same as the TacSol barrel for the 10/22 that is on the market. It is not a SBR since it qualifies for a 16" by the letter of the law.
He made it sound like they would be available to the public, but when I looked it up at the casino that night it looked to be LEO/MIL only. He did mention that they are in preproduction and should be hitting the market soon. So, I don't know.
Additionally, it is NOT blow back operated like some of the others, it is gas operateed and fires in the closed bolt - as they said it is quietert. In full auto is sounds like a hushed buzz saw.
The rep said you would not want to shoot one without the can over the baffle stack.
Definately one of the top 3 new gun products we saw!
I don't see why you couldn't SBR it after the fact, but it will cost you the gunsmith time another NFA stamp....then you would have to buy another can....it would be more trouble than it was worth. It is short enough as it is.
This was top four for us along with a new STI 3" Officer's double stack, the Remington Defense MSR project and AI AX PSR project.
I have some bad news... The MPX-C is the only one you can buy, and NFA rules apply. Dammit, I really wanted the MPX-SD!
MPX-SD- Military/LE only
MPX-C -NFA Rules Apply
That's it ... if they don't make a semi auto, integrally suppressed version available to us proles I refuse to ever buy a SIG product again. Looks like the Ghost of Bill Ruger landed in Exeter. [Mad] [fail]
Edit: Didn't see Pike10s post ... so there may be hope yet.
so that is a crazy muzzle brake on the c???
