we bought our house last summer as a fixer upper with a VA loan. no problems. VA doesnt require a home inspection. and I doubt the appraiser would climb the roof and evaluate it. some banks may require the inspection, but not the VA. and not USAA. this house was rough, top to bottom.

I've bought two homes so far with VA loans. The BEST benefit for veterans in my humble opinion. I walked into my first house within two weeks of meeting and starting the process with a realtor. Zero money down, average credit rating, no mortgage insurance requirement, all fees rolled into loan.

Well I don't want to spread misinformation, so forget what I said and take HBAR's word over mine. For some reason our agent was leery about dealing with it, and it may just have been ignorance.

We did a VA loan last year when we bought the place in NM, and HBAR's description is spot on. Ours wasn't rough, but it had a couple things that I would have expected to draw comments. They didn't.
