I called my lawyer friend today and he told me the following:
He would draft the letter of a FOIA to the CO government. He said it looks better when there is a committee or group sending the request. He said a letter would be sent back from the Government informing us (the requesters) how much it will cost to fill the FOIA. He said minimally about $500 to cover admin costs of digging up the info.
My guess is having RMGO do the FOIA request would be more likely to get a response. They will charge the $500+ regardless of whether or not they can fulfill the FOIA or not.
The big issue comes down to whether or not Hicks emails are considered public information. I say yes since its not a personal email but rather a .gov address. Plus there must be phone records and letters that were recorded as being received.
So it boils down to do we (the collective AR-15.CO) want to file this request or do we ask RMGO to ask (If they havnt already)
