If you don't have Freddy's go to Culver's, it's pretty much the exact same thing with hot dogs on the menu and Feddy's doesn't have the pot roast or other more unique entrees to choose from.

I don't get why people like 5 Guys better than Smashburger. I've eaten at the original 5 Guys in D.C. and IMO it's one of the most overrated burger joints out there.
Pro tip: If you want close to In-N-Out burger in Colorado check out Old School Burger. It's the closest thing to In-N-Out burger taste and flavor profile this state has to offer.
Actually they are all over, I didn't know that.

Ha! Funny story, shortly after posting to this thread I found myself at a Freddy's for lunch since that's where my mom wanted to eat. I stick by my statement of suggesting Culver's instead. Freddy's burgers are the same style patty but seem to be dryer and with less flavor. Fries are great (first time having just french fries w/o chili & cheese n such) flavor but the seasoning, while tasty, is fairly high in sodium if you're sensitive to salty things. It's decent but it's still fast food and I wouldn't put it up with any of the other places we discussed already. Also, one I forgot to mention in the Fort Collins area is Lark Burger. A little more spendy but their truffle burgers & fries are quite tasty and they use top notch ingredients. FatBurger around the Denver area might be one of my favorite burgers in the state. Be sure to do the big 'un and throw a fried egg on it or you ain't doing it right. For a tasty burger that most don't talk about.... Doug's Day Diner. The Legend burger is incredible and doesn't get a lot of fanfare because EVERYTHING at Doug's is fantastic. Their biscuits and gravy are the best I've ever had. Much of their menu is incredible so if you're in Loveland (off 4th & 287) Fort Collins (Harmony next to 5 Brothers) or off of Parker & Orchard in South Denver/Centennial you have to stop in and check it out. Great customer service and even better food.
I thought this thread was for "no fast food" burgers for sneakerd...
I had a good burger at the LoHi Steakhouse too, kinda a hipster-douchebag place, but close to you and pretty tasty. Only went once so don't hold my feet to the fire.
Cherry Cricket still has a good burger, that is if you can ever get a table w/o waiting an hour...
Make the drive to Highlands Ranch for Crave Burger. Life changing experience.

Dont forget the milkshake.

It's funny what some people consider 'good' food..
How about the burger off the bar menu at Elway's in Cherry Creek?
Crave's Wing burger is pretty damn good. I ask my kitchen manager to "fake" me one every few months. At this point we have moved pretty far afield from quiet little Edgewater (go Saints!).
Hey Parf- if it's at Elway's, just not my kind of joint. Likely overpriced, and Cherry Creek? Hot older women, but everybody's snooty. Am I wrong? Likely I'll stop by Toast in the next 2 days. Bacoooooon!!!!
Sneakerd, you are right. I learned to hate Cherry Creek the hard way. Lots of "men" wearing nice suits, nice watches...busting our their F-ing change purses so they could leave exact change, and stiff their waitress. I don't see the $8 bar burger on their lounge menu anymore either.
Thanks for the support Monky!
I always enjoyed the Red Rooster Cafe up on 58th and Wash.
We had some friends that swore 5 Boys made the best burger in Denver so we took them to Smashburger and changed their mind. The one on Parker Rd near 225 is where they train managers that go to stores all over the world.
Whataburger? Where? I WANT ONE!!!!
I've been to Crave in HR. Overrated. They try too hard. A great burger stands on its own.
On the south end of town, On the Rox Sports Bar & Grill has some really tasty burgers. They say "Parker", but it's closer to Lone Tree.

Tried Jack n Grill today, had the Bacon Lovers Burger. Pretty good, not to die for. Besides that, they are Obama lovers over there. Obama pics and various other famous Democrats scattered about. Doesn't make me want to go back, the burger wasn't that great- just ok. Very big of course.
Walk In burger was the one that closed but was at 22th and Sheridan. Just a big wet bag of grease. Didn't even finish it and never went back.
Not a big fan of Jack and Grill. Big burgers but kids dry and not a lot of flavor.
Crown burger.
Sam's no. 5 in downtown.
Anyone been to TAG Burger Bar? I'm a huge fan of his regular place TAG in Larimer square but haven't been to the burger joint yet.
Highland Tap and burger off of 32nd & Vallejo serves up a pretty good burger. They also have a good selection of craft brews.
the 5 best burgers in town according to Thrillist: http://www.thrillist.com/eat/denver/...best%20burgers
H Burger on Colorado around 7th or so.
Five Guys at Iliff and Parker
All of the "chains" suck. Smash, Five dudes, and even H burger. The trick is to find the dirtiest, dive. They always have the best. There is an Irish Pub Downtown somewhere that makes one with corned Beef and a fried egg. I loved it and I'm a die hard purest when it comes to burgers. If you find your self in the Springs try Vi's in Security. Best burger in town.
+ another for Bobs Atomic and Jims Burger Heaven
I also like Larkburger. Kind of a hipster place but it is also one of the best places where I can get a burger cooked medium right
I don't like Five Guys at all. They have excellent fries but the burgers seem to be dry and tasteless to me.
Yeah I know it's a drive but the cherry cricket burger will change your rankings on what a burger is really all about.
Try Shorty's at 8th and Main in Pueblo. Great burgers, best slopper in Pueblo, awesome onion rings, killer sweet potato fries and reasonable. $6.50 for a Shorty's burger and fries.
H burger is awesome. Who has tried them?
Haven't been in quite awhile and not particularly close but Buck Snort Saloon, in canyon above Pine, served up the best burger I'd ever had.
Red Robin burger works has great burgers
Down in Dallas visiting family and have eaten In N Out at least once a day thus far. I couldn't help but think of this thread! In N Out is still the best burger in my book. No hype bullshit either. I'd take it over any other I've had!
