MEANWHILE:
Well, how many of you are aware that 3 soldiers died last month in Afghanistan? They were only 28, 29, and 35. They deserve our respect.
He was an Actor media and movie idiots put them on a plane = to Gods,,, get over it.
Bummer always loved him in F&F.
Sad :(
RIP...I have enjoyed his movies
All to boost his career. Yeah OK.
Man, what's with all the cynicism? While I wasn't a particular fan of the F&F franchise, they were well done with high production values and hardly the kind of societal decay and filth that Hollywood often puts out. From what I can see, he was honestly and sincerely trying to do some good rather than the typical self-serving PSAs and other crap that so many in Hollywood engage in.
For his sake, I hope he was killed on impact. The ensuing fire is a horrible way for anyone to go.
Sorry to hear it and feel bad for his daughter.
I never was a fan of the Fast and Furious movies.
The Porsche Carrera GT was an awesome vehicle. When the vehicle will go from sitting still to 60mph in 3.5-3.9 seconds (depending on whose website you're reading), it doesn't take long to find yourself in deep trouble. This car has one of the best exhaust notes I've ever heard.

Previous owner of car in Paul Walker crash was IndyCar driver Graham Rahal
Quote:
"I get bored with cars pretty quickly," he said in a story published earlier this year. "The Carrera GT is just harder to drive, and I drive my cars a lot. Nothing that I have will not be used. Every car that I have will be driven a lot. I have two cars that are old that don't get used that often, but that is rare."
Rahal compared the Carrera GT to a 2010 Ferrari 599 GTO. Some of his observations and his descriptions of how difficult the Carrera was to drive are chilling in light of the crash.
"It says it has traction control, but that traction control on that car is not going to do a thing to save you," Rahal said. "And that's what I love about it. Part of me is very happy about it and part of me regrets it. It was a great, great car.
This I did not know... but it may have been an overconfidence issue...? I know some pros who are extremely confident, a little too confident. It's only a matter of time before that attitude gets them into trouble. But I won't make any assumptions on the deceased driver's abilities. I'll only state that it's sad and unfortunate.
I'll say what I told a friend yesterday about this very thing:
I'm kinda tired of the passive aggressive attitude people take when people mourn the passing of a beloved celebrity and there's always someone to step in and first get upset about "no one pays attention to the troops who died in the meantime" or something similar, and second are actually surprised at the celebrity worship in our society. I get more offended not when people ignore the deaths of my brothers and sisters in combat, but when people use them to lambaste the celebrity obsession in America. I find it difficult to believe anyone not directly affected by a service members death actually pay attention, or much less shed a single tear. I get broken up whenever I hear about it, but can't honestly say I actually pay attention to every military death that happens. As a veteran, I appreciate the sentiment, but only if/when it's actually genuine. Otherwise, please, spare me the false anger. (Not directed at you Mtn Man, just in general, people who say things like that rarely ever really mean it).
Seemed like a real down to earth guy, and a real gearhead...

Somebodies brain wrote a check their ass couldn't cash.
Happens often with vehicles of that caliber.
Yes, the car was widely considered to be one of the most dangerous cars to drive.

Jay Leno lost control driving one. Both Jeremy Clarkson and the Stig had issues keeping it under control while filming for Top Gear.

Just heard where they figured they tried to negotiate a 30 mph corner at 82mph.
What could possibly go wrong??
That sounds like the numbers from the Bronx train derailment. Are you sure?

Now the rumor is that they lost power steering which caused the accident.
That sounds like a boatload of speculation. How would one already know that they lost power steering?
Going way too fast in an area not safe for that speed is the most likely cause and can be supported by the level of destruction of the vehicle. The car was almost broken in half.
There are parts all over the street. The final resting place of the car is just that. The concrete and re-bar light standard was likely where the wreck became fatal. In one of the videos a woman explains that the car was "in half" and there was still someone in the car.

Parts of the car were magnesium alloy and would be difficult to extinguish once ignited.
Tragic loss. Both of those guys were experienced drivers with a lot of racing experience. That might have led to their overconfidence, especially on a street that they were very familiar with. It's been said in this thread and in others that the CGT is a hard car to control, it's also a hard car to get killed in due to its carbon fiber tub. In order to crack that in half, you need to be absolutely cruising and hit something totally immovable.
Yup they're saying fluids on the roads before the skid marks.
This is what happens when retards cannot separate fiction from reality...I blame video games bwahahahah.......... No sorrow from me. Just another culling of the stupid herd....
It was only a matter of time. Now they seem to be blaming the car over on MSN; Walker's Porsche Carrera GT: Is it safe? What's next? Ban the Carrera GT!
At least this new article was fair; Porsche Carrera GT: A Le Mans race car for the street
The story as I heard it was that the Porsche was in their shop for repair, and the tech's couldn't exactly figure it out and get it started and diagnose the problem. So the driver took the keys, and Walker (having a partial stake in the company) wanted to tag along. The car wasn't 100% perfect, and so the story that there were fluids on the street prior to the skid marks doesn't sound too far fetched. Maybe they were being reckless, maybe they weren't, I'm not sure. But the car wasn't in perfect working order prior to driving it.
Accident investigation is a pretty neat thing, they can determine the first harmful incident within a few hours into the investigation. I'm pretty sure by now they know the proximate cause of the accident. I'm sure the details will be released to the public pretty soon considering the high profile of the deceased.
No amount of fluid on the street, mechanical woes, or other issues will cause a car, any car, to end up like that Porsche ended up....if driving at normal speeds. At the posted 45mph limit that street had, you could drive that car into a concrete wall and live through it.
You're right. They were coming from a show put on by their shop. But the car was acting up which is why they were in it. Rodas saw one of his guys having trouble with it and Walker hopped in and they took it out. I was wrong about it being in the shop for repair, misunderstood it when the wife told me. All of this is based off TMZ reports, so take that for what it's worth.
******Tin Foil Hat Alert******
This was on my Facebook this morning.
It's just not being blamed on the car now.

Truther News? Really?
That is the most fucking absurd thing I have ever read
