Wife was pulled over traveling through Wyoming to Nebraska last week for speeding. Was let off with a verbal warning and sent on her way. Not a single question about anything other than the usual. To me this sounds like a media outlet trying to get ratings through more fear tactics & succeeding.
First thing out of your mouth if you get pulled over should be, "So what's the bag limit on Colorado tags around these parts? "
I've been pulled over 5x in the last year or so.
WY. I was following a local (who was pulling away from me) on a small back road middle of nowhere outside Pinedale. Sheriff pulls me over, not the local who was going faster. He Didn't really harass me. No ticket. Just warned me for going 5 over. I thanked him, we were on our way.
SD. Cruise was set for +3, cruise let it roll away downhill. The officer Didn't harass me, asked if I had a weapon. When I said yes, he said "cool, that's allowed here" he admitted he caught me rolling downhill, didn't sweat it too bad, warned me,I thanked him, he went on his way.
CO. 35mph leaving town. School zone.(high school). I was obeying posted speeds, forgot about the zone. Waved to cop as I passed, he pulled me over and asked why I was going so fast...I suppressed my natural reaction, thanked him, and went on my way. $250 ticket and my insurance is up $400/year.
TX before pot law. My speedo was off, I had cruise set for 78 in a 75, pulled over for 81. I thanked him, He warned me and I went on my way.
TX after pot law. Trooper headed in opposite direction whips a u turn, pulls me over for "dirty license plate on rear". Proceeds to grill me with a barrage of questions.
Where you coming from?
Where you headed? Oh, the oil rigs, those boys love their dope, you bringin em some? Got any pot? Those oil boys love their meth, you sure you're not running them some?
The kicker? I drive the speed limit to +7, do my best to obey posted limits in towns. Hardly ever drive +7 (at night, open straight road, no traffic) mostly I drive +2 to +3. I'm constantly being passed by people in city limits, yet I'm the guy who gets pulled over. 5x in a year.

The rental reps in my office were just telling me that after a few complaints of cars getting tagged by drug dogs and searched down in Texas, they just send the cars on one-way trips up to Northern States with less check points. Customers will get excited when they randomly get upgraded to a Caramo or something.
Reminds me of my road trip back from FL (with an overnight stop at Anniston, AL) when I retrieved my gun collection from the friend who had been storing it for me while I was overseas. Back of the Explorer was stacked with about a dozen M-1s, two 1903A3s, several Winchester 52s, several Mossberg 44USes, an M-1A, Mossberg 500, several pistols, and cases of 7.62 and .30-06 ammo. I had blankets over the top so as not to alarm people that passed me on the road but I made dang sure I wasn't going over the speed limit ...
Been to Casper 3 times this past year and never got pulled over and didn't really see anything different. However going to Liberal, Dodge city and Garden City KS working in the meat packing plants, the workers see the CO plates and tend to ask me if I have any weed or if there's way they can get it across the border. Always fun telling them obscure ways they can and the "border check point" you have to go through now, complete bull shit but it's fun screwing with morons.
I had the same experience as the above poster. Went to Casper over the memorial day weekend did the speed limit didn't drive crazy and had no problems at all. Saw cops all in the other lanes opposite of our direction of travel. With all the hype I was half expecting to have to port like I would driving a semi and get a shake down but no such issues.
If you buy the proper one (read: no false alarms) & use it properly (read: let someone else speed a ways up in front of you) your likelihood of getting a ticket reduces dramatically.
They have been playing the crap out of this ad on pandora.

I got pulled over this weekend for doing 73 in a 65 on my way back from Rapid City. Very polite officer. Got a ticket, no mention of my Colorado plates or drugs. I was having such a good day I really didn't mind that much. I was definitely speeding and got caught. No excuses. I was carrying but didn't advise him. Not sure what the law is in Wyoming. But frankly, I don't pose a threat and there's no way he's searching my vehicle. If for some reason he did get permission for a search I would inform him.
Happens a LOT in a few small towns in Texas. Edibles, extracts, tinctures, concentrates, and hashish are all felony charges, even for a miniscule amount.
What are the laws in WY, ID, UT for carrying a legal CCW and being pulled over? Do you have to inform in those states? I've been looking around and it seems that is detail that isn't usually catalogued in CCW reciprocity tables. Got a trip planned for the summer.
I'm up in WY at least once a month and have never been pulled over in that state. I suspect my habit of driving like the elderly has something to do with it.
Here is my favorite radar detector mine had paid for itself many many times over

Drove to Devils tower then Sundance and Deadwood. Only saw one WY Highway patrol car in 2 days.
Just got back from a long road trip to Lake Sakakawea. We saw a number of State and county cars but had no issues.
Only timeI got pulled over was when I have more than 2 sheep in the bed of my pick up,
and taking them back into CO....

Just drove to San Diego and back. Not only did I not get stopped, but there just aren't many living things to interact with in the Mojave. Anyone who has driven from Twentynine Palms through Amboy to Needles knows what I mean [Coffee]
I just drove to los Angeles and back with no issues at all. Saw a ton of state troopers in Utah sitting on the sides of the road. Tons of chp in cali also.
On I-70 through kansas last Sunday there were large signs claiming a drug checkpoint ahead with drug dogs in use. No checkpoint, but the signs were just before an exit -- Idiot trap??
