Spirited Driving?
You either know what you're doing behind the wheel of a race version (or actual race car) vehicle... "for real"......or you simply don't. A checkbook makes that difference....not.

What a sad sight. I've been waiting on mine to show up for what seems like an eternity.
Your claimed 631hp to the wheels is a bit more than 707 to the crank (720+)...which is where manufacturers run their hp ratings. It won't take much more than a tune and some exhaust work for my Hellcat (soon as the sumbish gets here) to drag that little goat of yours down the pavement.
I've never once heard of either insurance, or the police caring, unless there was a fatality and it wasn't clear who was doing what. I don't even believe your friend actually (sorry).
Edit: Now my interest is piqued. I bet MarkCo can shed some more light for us.
Yep, trading the 392 in.
Anyone who is paranoid about using the plug-in monitor to lower your rates on your driving, we were told that the company would only pull data from their module if they were issued a subpoena.
Somebody with more money than sense tried to get sporty with an unfamiliar muscle car and meets a cottonwood tree. Sounds about like the conclusion I would expect.
Yup Im going to ridicule the driver because
I'm perfect
I would never make that mistake
I know how to drive
I once was told by a guy that said he was a pro how too
He just a rich ass hole that doesn't apprieciate anything.
The comments on that link kill me. Whatever happened unless he admits something happened. No one was hurt yet the state still charged him with are less driving. The state and the people that ridicule him disgust me.
I went around that corner last night for giggles. I feel it is safe to say it is pretty stupid to take that corner over 45 or so unless you KNOW what you are doing. Skid marks clearly show more than 45, as does the front end of the car. The corner is clearly marked with sharp turn signs.
Playing the rolling start chase game on the highway is pretty dangerous. As most of you already know, most of the highways here in Colorado are pretty bumpy anyway. Those annoying bumps and humps at 75 MPH can be very dangerous at 120+ MPH. You also have the factor of not being able to effectively change lanes or drive defensively when the normal traffic changes lanes or flips out because they are getting passed at twice their speed.
Once again, with that much power on tap sound judgement needs to be used when you want to unleash the beast.
The older I get the less I drive my GTO because I know its inherent potential for doing damage to myself, others, insurance, or whatever else if I drive it like a donkey. I am actually thinking of selling it...... Anyone interested in buying it???
If someone wants to drive fast. Join NASA Pro Racing, or go to open track days High Plains every Friday. Lots of cheap places for going fast. NASA is stupid cheap for what you get. Way safer than doing this crap on the streets.
For the record, I've done a lot of stupid crap on the streets. So I'm not throwing stones here. But there are great options for going fast these days. Legally that is.
Yeah okay. I'm alright with being down a couple hundred ponies, because with the hellcat I won't feel as if I've dumped $100k on a boy racer version of the maxima and at least half that to make it faster. I've ran into those guys at a local meet & greet or two. They are stupid fast but cars like that are very few and far between here. In fact, that video showcases the majority of street rides of that caliber in this neck of the woods.
Yeah, I'd rather spend much less doing a resto-mod on my '68... But to each their own...
Nice pics and video action there....Jefe's AR.
Yup.
People look at the numbers too much. It is not all about HP and torque. That is why merely 475HP Porsche GT3 kicks ass on circuit compare to cars with 125more HP.
I like GTRs. One thing I did not like (compare to 1000 things i do like) is that it is very/too forgiving.
My point was more to traction, not power.
Like you saw in the video 500hp rwd cars had no traction(even from 40 or 50 roll..). I guess I could see owning a 500hp+ rwd if I lived some where that was warm enough to really enjoy driving it. Cold pavement+DOT tires+700hp= a lot of traction control light and/or wheelspin.
To me the Hell cat is more about looking cool and that HP number.
^ that too.
I live on car forum as well (surprisingly not active onGTRforums). One of the best examples are SLS AMG and C63AMG Black Series.
Great horsepower, but it has very little traction. Some of those torquy cars tried their best to make it linear power/torque band. With having a monster bore/stroke, I don't know it is possible to make it a smooth linear.
Personally, if I have 600+ HP, I would not buy front mounted engine. I would go for mid or maybe rear (Some 9xx model porsche).
As for some high rollers out here, they can buy a 195+ HP Mugen Honda Engine on a F3 car. *drool*

(Or, if someone wants to go all-in , go with Jordan Mugen Honda 3.0 V10) [LOL]

Wow ^^ I really didn't need to see that link, there gos the next hour + of my life..
714 stock vs stock. Depending on the desired level of comfort, a GTO can be brought down to sub 3000lbs with minimal effort. And still be legal and daily driven. May take a LOT more than a tune and pipes to overcome that. I know for a fact there are some in town with similar power that are approaching 3k.

Yup Im gonna ridicule the driver because:
Im not perfect but Ive never run into a tree
I know how to drive, hence the never running into a tree, ditch, other vehicle.
No one has to tell me to slow down when there's a turn in the roadway.
He most certainly seems like a rich, unskilled, careless asshole.
OK then how about we put it like this. ANYONE that would buy a high performance car and wreck it by over-correcting and hitting a tree less than a couple of hours after taking possession needs to sue the manufacture for selling him a defective car.
Sorry but I started racing at 12. I have never had a chargeable accident on the street. Been known to play in some of those same twisties up there with old, ill handling muscle cars. Most modern cars are so forgiving it is not even funny. To stuff something like that into a tree tells me more balls than skill and that is a dangerous combination when your not playing a video game.
Just about everyone that plays with the new stuff understands that UHP summer tires and cold weather do not mix at all. It is a big, heavy car with a bunch of HP and a large polar movement of inertia. Once it looses grip and starts rotating it is not going to want to stop and changing the direction requires familiarity with it.
Anyone that plunks down that kind of money and thinks the machine makes him invincible needs to watch all those videos of stupid people winning stupid prizes. From the reports and pictures he took home first place.
Just my take on it. [beatdeadhorse]
Heck, new tires on sport bikes probably catch a lot of newbies out in any kind of weather. Haha who am I kidding it's always a panic over throttle/clutch/brakes
Well, my duramax flew past there at 50 mph tonight in the snow while in 2wd. My conclusion is this guy sucked balls at driving.
One of my good customers died in a motorcycle crash on Riverdale road a few years back. RIP Bear!
