We got much needed speed control in a couple of key areas of our neighborhood by talking to our neighbors, on the Internet.
Oh, come on, you could have just told them your name was Hugh Jorgan. Or Dick Leaky. Mike Hunt. Hugh G. Rection. Dick Hertz.
Have fun with it. :D
PS: If you ever see someone on an internet forum named "Dick Leaky" it's probably me. I got that from an old Beavis and Butthead episode. [ROFL2]
Another funny thing is people putting up way too much information. My neighbor tells rambling stories with way too much information (all with terrible spelling and grammar), but I don't want to post any of his stuff because he's my neighbor.
Should make private investigator's and BGC folks job more interesting.
We have a neighbor selling used shoes !!!!
As far as using a name, mine is Rusty Shackleford.
Next door provided pure gold.
Every time somebody complains I just suggest infantry tactics.
after joining I just edited my last name a bit. It wouldn't let me shorten it much though.
We've got some newer good neighbors now and a lot of dormant properties now occupied by normal employed people. Things are looking up around my area. Friendly folks too which helps a lot.
This was on mine today. The workers should have asked, buy to make it into an issue and file a complaint[facepalm] Its 1.5 cents worth of water for 5 gallons.
"Today my wife caught a city construction worker filling their water container with our residential water hose; one of those very large jugs of water you'd see at a picnic, or construction site. I believe this this is the construction crew currently working in the Arvada area to replace/upgrade gas lines and systems.
Since they have been gradually moving across the roads, residents across the neighborhood have probably had their water stolen over the last 1-2 months of construction. We've filed a complaint with the city.
We heard our water activate yesterday and didn't think anything of it, but investigated this time. The construction worker just made excuses. Look out for them trespassing and stealing water".
Why don't people talk to their neighbors, anymore? Hell outside this area, do you people even wave at each other.
In the 4ish square miles that make up my neighborhood, there are over 500 homes and I don't drive down most of the 25-30 different streets. However, using this site allowed us to drum up support for more than one community neighborhood; the most important of which allowed us to get enough support to add speed bumps in some key areas, including my street. Traffic and speeds are WAY down now. Also, while I may not consider someone who lives a mile from me a neighbor, I'm still interested to hear if they are having their home broken into, especially when they have video.
I still talk to my neighbors. Nextdoor lets me have a broader view of things across multiple adjacent neighborhoods, people that I would never get to "talk" to otherwise. Besides there's only maybe 10 households in my filing who are on Nextdoor, out of ~100.
Speaking of waving at other COAR members, I have yet to see another car with the COAR sticker(s) on it.
I like my neighbors but we all chat via WhatsApp instead of Nextdoor. We do weekly bronco game get togethers, multiple block parties in the summer, golf tournaments, etc.
Nextdoor is full of whiny people.
I make it a point to talk to my neighbors.. on the regular. I even loaned one a chainsaw.. AND got it back.
We constantly share beers.. and whiskey.. So out of my 'neighbors' I'm counting two houses in each direction... I talk to 4 on the regular. Got one of them to buy a few guns.. now just working on the others.

Not in my direct neighborhood but in yhe surrounding area to me. He appreciates the flag, he said. Just that its an eye sore to fly on your house. Ugh. He did get ripped for it and then he deleted it. This was in regards to the DTOM flag. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...9f32a46eab.jpg

Serves him right.
a recent thread on ours.
Thief in Gulch! lady received a Photo and Short typed note in her mailbox - calling out a guy by name who lives in a tent in the creek/gulch nearby.
I googled the name they gave, came up with a facebook page. The photo that was on the flyler, was from his facebook page.
He's using a cell phone to post on facebook. Lot's of God ramblings, nothing much makes sense. Thread went sideways eventually and the whole thing has been deleted.
Supposedly the police were called to investigate him living in the gulch.
Some good ones there!

this one was posted today, drunk posting I believe.
Skunk City??? :-)
I was living in Wash Park West area of Denver before moving to Lakewood.
I have never seen so many skunks in my life
I walked out of my house on South Kendall and there was one right in my front yard, made a noise, he took off.
I was on my way to 7-11 around 1am three nights ago and I decided to be smart and walk since I was drinking.
I was on 1st ave, and a down the road I noticed something cross the street
As I got closer I saw it was 3 skunks in a line going in the opposite direction, I was holding a plastic cup of fireball and I looked back to see where they went, looked back again and WTF, one of the them crossed over the street and was running right towards me..I bugged out, took off (didn't toss my fireball though) and all i heard was click clack click clacking of its feet..my heart was racing
I will not be walking in the middle of the night to any store, no matter how much I want a cigarette
I am use to raccoons being from NY and they run away, well this skunk had guts
Any way to keep them away from your house????
Probably one of those rabid skunks my wife is so worried about.
I'm bummed. I keep looking for stupid crap in my neighborhood group, and it's all pretty normal, which is weird considering how close I live to Manitou Springs.
I still have the app but had to turn off the notifications. The drooling idiocy of some of the people complaining was becoming too much.
Yeah, about half the silly posts on Nextdoor are from the OCC membership (since Nextdoor links close neighborhoods). Of course here in PV we have a facebook page and an email listserv so most of the real goofy crap that gets posted from here gets posted on those sites not Nextdoor.
Just posted by DCSO...

Early this morning, just after 1:00 a.m , we received a call from a resident on Oak Leaf Lane in Highlands Ranch, reporting that he could see four people checking car doors in his neighborhood. The subjects checking the doors had a black Mazda following alongside them as if it were there as a safety.
Several units immediately responded to the area to attempt to locate the subjects. Deputies located the black Mazda driving without its lights on behind two SUV’s. Deputies attempted to pull the vehicles over, but the drivers of all three vehicles accelerated and refused to stop. Due to high speeds, deputies eventually lost visuals of the vehicles.
It was later determined that the two SUV’s were both stolen from Silver Maple Dr. in Highlands Ranch. One vehicle was left unlocked and keys to the ignition were left in the glovebox. The owner of the other vehicle states that the car doors were locked and the keys are still in his possession.
[snip]
(Obviously I'm not calling the DCSO PIO stupid, but rather the owner who leaves his keys in the glove box)
Yeah, I saw that too. I never understand how people leave their cars unlocked...let alone with keys in it. WTF.
